While taking a drive on 6/23/08 near the
lakeshore we came upon a farm field with all of these birds. I
had never seen something like them before so we stopped to take a
few pictures. They came closer to the van and were very
strange but seemed friendly until Dani got out of the van to take
some closer pictures, they then turned a little mean and started
calling to each other like they were going to have Dani for dinner,
I of course locked the door LOL.
The
guineafowl (sometimes called guineahen) are a family of birds in the
same order as the pheasants, turkeys and other game birds and is
native to Africa. This is a family of insect and seed-eating,
ground-nesting birds resembling partridges, but with featherless
heads and spangled grey plumage. At least three of the species are
poorly studied. |
