trip to see Mike & Mary Gevedon in Berea Kentucky. We spent 3
days down there and had a fantastic time.

| I took Dani, Zach and
Mary's Cousin Joe up the one mountain to my favorite place in the
area. It is called Big Rock and you will not find it on any
map but it is in the town of Big Hill Kentucky and is a long winding
road to find it. |

We had the
chance to visit the original site of the siege of Boonesborough,
this is the fort that Daniele Boone founded. |
|
The Siege of Boonesborough took place in
September 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. The attack on
the Kentucky settlement of Boonesborough was led by Chief Blackfish,
a Shawnee leader allied to the British. Months before the battle,
Blackfish had captured and adopted Daniel Boone, the founder of
Boonesborough. Boone escaped the Shawnees in time to lead the
defense of the settlement. Blackfish's siege was unsuccessful and
was lifted after ten days. Boone was then court-martialed by fellow
officers who suspected him of having British (or Shawnee)
sympathies. Boone was acquitted, but he soon moved away from
Boonesborough. |

| They built a
new fort near the site where they show people how life was like back
then. It was closed the day we were there but here are some
pictures of the outside. |
